Bali Visa Guide 2025: Types, Requirements, and Application Process

    AdminBy AdminAugust 13, 2025

Planning a trip to Bali in 2025? Understanding the latest visa requirements is essential for a seamless travel experience. Bali, the “Island of the Gods,” attracts millions with its stunning landscapes and vibrant culture, often included in comprehensive Bali travel packages for a hassle-free vacation. This guide outlines the visa types, requirements, and application processes for 2025, incorporating recent updates to ensure a smooth journey.

Visa Types for Bali in 2025

Bali offers several visa options tailored to different travel purposes and durations. Here are the primary categories:

    Visa-Free Entry

Nationals from 10 countries, including 9 ASEAN nations and Timor-Leste, can enter Bali visa-free for up to 30 days. This option suits short-term tourists but is non-extendable and strictly for tourism or social visits.

Visa on Arrival (VoA) and Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA)

Available to citizens of over 90 countries, including the U.S., Australia, and the UK, the VoA costs IDR 500,000 (~USD 35) and allows a 30-day stay, extendable once for another 30 days. The e-VoA, applied online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id, streamlines entry by avoiding airport queues. This option is ideal for those booking Bali travel packages for short getaways.

    Single Entry Tourist Visa (B211A/C1)

The B211A visa is perfect for stays up to 60 days, extendable twice for 60 days each (up to 180 days total). It suits tourists, digital nomads, or those visiting for cultural purposes. Applications are submitted online or through a visa agent, costing ~USD 200–250.

    Multiple Entry Visa (D1)

Designed for frequent travelers, the D1 visa allows multiple 60-day visits within 1, 2, or 5 years. Each stay is extendable once for 60 days. It requires a sponsor and costs USD 380–1,100, depending on validity.

    Limited Stay Permit (KITAS)

KITAS is for long-term stays (6 months to 2 years), covering work, retirement, study, or family purposes. Types include Work KITAS, Investor KITAS, and Retirement KITAS (for those 55+). Requirements include sponsorship and extensive documentation, with costs varying by type.

    Key Requirements

To enter Bali, travelers must meet these requirements:

    • Passport Validity: Valid for at least 6 months from entry, with no damage.
    • Return/Onward Ticket: Proof of departure within the visa’s validity period.
    • Bali Tourism Levy: IDR 150,000 (~USD 10), payable online or at the airport, supporting sustainable tourism.
    • SATUSEHAT Health Pass: Required due to monkeypox protocols, completed before boarding.
    • Electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD): Submitted online or upon arrival.

    Application ProcessStep

    1: Choose Your Visa

Select the appropriate visa based on your stay duration and purpose. Short-term visitors can opt for VoA/e-VoA, while long-term travelers may need B211A or KITAS.

    Step 2: Gather Documents

Prepare a valid passport, proof of funds, return ticket, and accommodation details. Long-term visas require additional documents like sponsorship letters or employment contracts.

    Step 3: Apply

    • VoA: Pay at the airport or apply for e-VoA online.
    • B211A/D1: Submit online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id or through a visa agent.
    • KITAS: Apply through an agent or embassy, including biometrics. As of May 29, 2025, all visa applications require online registration, followed by in-person verification and biometrics at an immigration office.

Step 4: Pay Fees and Await Approval

Fees range from USD 35 (VoA) to USD 1,100 (5-year D1). Processing times vary from immediate (VoA) to weeks (KITAS).

    Practical Tips

    • Start applications early, especially for long-term visas (1–2 months in advance).
    • Use trusted visa agents to simplify paperwork.
    • Avoid overstaying; fines are IDR 1,000,000 (~USD 65) per day, with risks of deportation.
    • Check official sources like evisa.imigrasi.go.id for updates.

    Conclusion

Navigating Bali’s 2025 visa landscape ensures a stress-free visit. Whether opting for a quick visa-free entry or a long-term KITAS, proper preparation is key. Stay informed, comply with regulations, and enjoy Bali’s beauty with confidence.
